Dig Your Nails

(1997)

(loss)

alone inside every frame of silence,

the walls are dark, the sky greens with envy.

to sin and sin again, a tree grows.

all minds cannot control, my bones break free from me.

and you are there,

right through the night-time reflection.

I carve your words into my bones,

and you are there.

as I sink through the air it raining in my veins.

so when I kiss your heart tonight

we can destroy our blackened souls.

and seal shut your fists of ocean.

if I left you on the day of the eclipse:

1) I would be your memory;

2) you would have everything.

don’t look at my broken eyes—

I have the scent of broken eyes.

Nothing can be held of me,

you must let go to feel a pulse.

(birth)

You lay me down in a tomb of iron filings,

and the shapes are made.

the circles fall into your magnetic field.

please don’t curse yourself tonight,

you leave me every night.

so when I kiss your heart tonight,

burn my spine,

my spine is old.

(union)

I reach out of my place

and pull you down to me and we smile

we will always smile and cut

the eighteen tendons of our lives.

the whole earth is on fire about three feet up the horizon

one giant angel suffocates the orange light.

our angel whispers us to sleep.

you flutter your arteries.

I am blue and inside.

As we sink. As we sink.

We can destroy our blackened souls

I will kill myself for you.

forget what rhymes with the heart beat.

sleep inside of you will heal all of me.

so when I kiss your heart tonight

forget that our bodies touch each other.

(extinction)

Explode forever sound from angel’s brow:

of everything, your being is my only choice.

I sink through the air and it is raining inside my veins.

you are more beautiful than everything.

the star of every man is now the sphere

Eternal light;

Eternal kiss.

I believe in you.

you are everything.

(time)

What is the sweetness of your breath

now drips through the lines of pipes

every shell we find is yours

and now the mind gives away its core.

Letters live attached to paper skeleton.

but throw me all away.

So when I kiss your heart tonight,

You beat my heart, we make a constellation.
